EXPLAIN THE GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF DEVELOPMENT.?
Growth and development are inseparable but different from each other. Grow
it represents the physical changes of the individual and development represents the whole
changes, structure and shape of the individual.
Knowledge of growth and development at different stages is very essential for her
teacher. The teacher is supposed to stimulate the growth and development of the child. He can do it
only if he has proper knowledge of growth and development at various stages.
The concepts of growth represent the purely physical sense of a person, i.e. height, weight, size and
length etc.
Growth is quantitative. It starts at conception but ends at a certain age.
Development means an overall change in shape, form or structure along with
organ function. Development is both quantitative and qualitative. It is continuous
a process starting from the Womb and ending in the grave.
PRINCIPLES OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
PRINCIPLE OF CONTINUITY
Development follows the principle of continuity, which means that development is a
continuous process. It begins prenatally and ends with death.
PRINCIPLE OF INTEGRATION
Thus, development involves movement from whole to parts and from parts to parts
the whole and that is the integration of the whole and its parts and specifics
and general answers. It allows the child to develop satisfactorily in various areas
aspects or dimensions of his personality.
Example: A child first begins to learn the movement of the hands, then the movement of the fingers, and only then learns
